I'm a Treky. I don't wear the uniform or the ears, but I've watched all the films and tv series. My fav series is The Next Generation, followed by Voyager and last of all Deep Space Nine or Enterprise (undecided), all of which I've watched at least twice. I'm not a big fan of the original; I find them too dated and the films haven't been much cop - some of the episodes have been much better. Case in point, my favourite Star Trek ever and should've been a film: Best of Both Worlds - the Borg double-episode.

I've recently finished watching Next Gen - the very last 2 part episodes: "All Good Things" was excellent. It jumps into the past, to a point where Picard sees The Enterprise for the very first time and also jumps into the future where you see where all the crew are in 25 years time. I don't think any of the other series were rounded off so well as this one.

Also have them all (series and films - excluding the animated nonsense they made) on dvd (with the new film on bluray)

1) Are you sure you're not thinking of Voyager, in which his character develops a way of generating entrance to static wormholes, on the other hand it could be Nth degree?
2) Relics.

Nth degree, pretty sure thats it. as far as tech goes in the ST world, this is the episode that really did it for me. conceptually amazing.

Watching Enterprise now, skipping the occasional ones I remember well because I've watched them recently. I don't think it was too bad and didn't deserve the bad reviews that resulted in it being canned. There's plenty left in the ST, there's a whole universe to explore! We need another new series.

star trek needs re envisioned, i have no doubt it will happen. I believe for that to happen it has to be canned for a long time.

i can see it working too, but i has to loose the token aliens as part of the federation concept. there should be some deep rascism, it has to be generaly darker and more gritty at every level, it needs to not have such polished good looking actors. this is imo why star trek sucks at the same time as being a classic. given its history i guess theres arguments for the inclusion of all the things i hate about it, but most definetly it cant be as commercial as it has been ever again.

make it so...

Just watched the Enterprise episode "In A Mirror, Darkly", part of which uses the original series style props, uniforms etc. They did a similar thing in Deep Space Nine in an episode called "Trials and Tribbleations" where they mixed original Star Trek series clips with DS9. Also, in The Next Generation episode "Relics", they create a holodeck version of the original Enterprise bridge for the aging Scotty.
